Precollege Summer Art Intensive - June 29-July 18, 2008
Our precollege residential summer art intensive allows young artists ages 16 to 18 the opportunity to focus and explore their ideas in the heart of the international art world. Students expand their skills, liberate their imaginations, and enrich their understanding of contemporary art. NYU Steinhardt faculty encourage experimentation through classes in painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, digital imaging, performance art, installation art, and more. Students work in our professional studios and workshops, and take field trips to some of New York City's cutting-edge galleries and museums, performance venues, and public exhibition spaces. During the final week of the program, participants mount a group exhibition of their work in NYU Steinhardt's Barney Building in downtown Manhattan. Students also receive individual portfolio sessions to help prepare for portfolio reviews when applying to colleges and art schools. Application deadline: April 1. Tuition: $1,950 plus $300 materials and lab fee. Room and board: approximately $900.Visit the Department of Art and Art Professions to learn more and download an application.
